Welcome to the Quercus Planning Group Blog

We are a team of 4 graduate students in the Masters of Urban and Regional Planning program at Portland State University. We are working with Portland Parks and Recreation and Portland Bureau of Environmental Services to prepare an assessment of Willamette Park and provide recommendations for the park’s future. This project is the culmination of our program and our final output as graduate students.

The Quercus Planning Group blog will detail our progress as we go, and will provide updates on meetings, tasks, deadlines, and final presentations. If you have any questions, please contact us at quercus.planning@gmail.com.

Thank you for tuning in!

What a neat project you have chosen… and taking the name of the Quercus as your group name is thoughtful. It says to me that as planners, you strive to save the old while developing a new, viable plan for the area. Willamette Park has lots to offer but it seems tired and a bit neglected, which your pictures captured. It really needs some new life and a compeling theme to pull all the parts together. The trees seem to be a natural focus for your group. I look forward to seeing how you will do this. Our communities are lucky to have such creative and committed adults like all of you are, giving your time and talents to improve our cities and our futures.

  2. Nice. I’ll keep checking in. Good luck with your project.
